A symptom or a suspicion?
Rough running is not a diagnosis.
A hesitant cold start or an engine that stumbles under load can have several causes, including ignition, air leaks, injection or mechanical wear. We discuss when the problem occurs and inspect fault codes and relevant measurements. Mileage alone is not enough to prescribe intake cleaning.
What the treatment does
Removing deposits where they restrict airflow.
With direct fuel injection, fuel enters the cylinder. The intake valves are therefore not washed by fuel in the same way as with port injection, and deposits can accumulate. Walnut blasting uses walnut-shell media to mechanically clean suitable, accessible intake areas. Correct disassembly, protection and removal of residue are part of the treatment. The method must suit the engine.
Cleaning or calibration?
A healthy starting point comes before tuning.
When deposits cause the problem, cleaning can help restore normal operation. If the complaint remains, further diagnosis is still needed. Software optimisation is a separate decision, not a substitute for repair. For a 1.4 TSI or 1.5 TSI, we first consider the exact engine version, maintenance and symptoms before proposing a combination of work.
